The
Real Image

The Internet is great at
making it easy to get a look at my work but there is a quality drop going
from the photographs I sell to their presentation here. I generally
use a medium format (2 1/4") camera and totally control the print
quality in both the darkroom and digital prints.

Web image quality is a
balance between speed of loading, size and image quality. I use JPEG
compression to keep load time down. This introduces compression
artifacts that are NOT on the prints you receive.

Web images look different
on Macs and PCs. Images on this site are balanced for PCs, the
same image on a Mac will look brighter.

The print you receive is
much nicer than what can be shown on the web.
Matting
& Framing
All prints are matted on
Crescent or Bainbridge brand buffered mat board.
At the minimum double mats are used.
The full-size backing board is from the same mat board stock. Small prints to 8x10” size are tape hinged to the mat using
archival framing tape. Larger
prints are cold mounted to smooth surfaced Crescent mat board (not the cheaper
mount board). All this is done by
myself in order to control the process and keep the quality high.
Framing is by the same type
of frame stock (metal or wood) as any local frame shop.
Designer Molding, Neilsen and Florida Frames are used.
Glass is available in clear and premium non-glare varieties from Tru-Vue.
Wood frames are paper-backed and all frames are wired ready-to-hang,
corner bumpered to keep them from moving on the wall and the wall hangers are
included.
