Jamestown Professional Fire Fighters
Association Local 1772
The Jamestown Fire Department has
been a fully paid professional
department since 1911.

There are currently 54 IAFF Local 1772
Union members consisting 1 Captain,
13 Lieutenants, 39 Firefighters, and an
Alarm Maintenance Supervisor. One of
the above Lieutenant's is filling the
duties of Code Enforcement Officer.

There are also 7 non-union
management positions consisting of a
Public Safety Director, Deputy Chief,
and 5 Battalion Chiefs.

There are 4 Fire Stations in Jamestown,
however, a station is closed the
majority of the time due to lack of
manpower. These closings are done on
a rotational basis excluding Station 1
located at City Hall. The department
answered an increased number of
about 4200 calls in 2004. These
included all types of fires, vehicle
accidents, hazardous materials
incidents, emergency medical
assistance, flooded basement
pumping, rescues, good intent calls,
and false alarms.
